Am I covered to take pillions (passengers)?
The easiest way to check whether you're insured to carry pillions (passengers) on your bike is to check your insurance documents.
You can find this information in the section in the Motorcycle Statement of Fact sheet, and this will be available for you to view or download in My Account.
You should also check your licence to ensure that you are entitled to carry passengers.
Can I ride other Motorcycles?
Many comprehensive and some third party, fire and theft policies will allow you to ride another bike on a third party only basis, but you should always double check.
The easiest way to check whether you're insured to ride someone else's bike is to check your policy documents, which you can find in My Account.
Do I need to have CBT to cover my bike?
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) is usually required before you ride a moped or motorcycle on the road and is therefore needed for insurance. However, there are exemptions, such as riding a moped up to a maximum of 50cc.
You can find out more about when a CBT is needed here
Do I need to keep my bike garaged at all times?
If you have declared that your bike will be garaged, your insurer has accepted your insurance on condition that your motorcycle is kept in a locked and secured garage.
Depending on your policy and who you're insured with, if there is a garaging clause on your policy then this applies to the designated garaging or home address and possibly the surrounding area (for example, if the garage is not on your property).
You can find out more in your policy documents on My Account or contact us on live chat if you have any further questions.
Do I need a Green Card to ride abroad?
Until recently, UK drivers entering the EU needed a Green Card to guarantee that the motorist had the necessary minimum motor insurance cover for driving in the country being travelled to.
However, from 2 August 2021, UK motorists entering the EU will not need a Green Card. You'll still need to ensure you're legally covered if you’re planning on driving in the EU. Please check your policy documents to find out what you’re covered for, which you can do on My Account.
